LGBT Groups Protest Outside Senator Scott Brown's Office
BOSTON/Government Center - Last Friday 40 people gathered in front of Senator Scott Brown's office in downtown Boston. The UMass Boston LGBT Equality Coalition a group committed to advocating full equality for lesbian gay bisexual transgender and queer identified people organized the rally as part of a larger national week of action in honor of Harvey Milk the first openly gay politician elected to public office who was later assassinated. UMass students and other attendees marched in front of the JFK Federal Building to urge Brown to support the amendment repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy. Speakers also addressed the need for passing an all-inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act that would include transgender people. Though coordinators of the rally were denied the chance to collectively speak as a group with Brown inside his office a representative came outside the building to hear the group's concerns and statements.
