Mark Your Calendars, 3rd Digital Media Conference Coming Up in October
The 3rd Digital Media Conference is coming up October 25-27 at Lesley University in Cambridge; so we thought we'd give everyone a bit of advance notice. Regular Open Media Boston viewers will recall that we co-organized the first two iterations of the conference, and we're doing so this time, too. The general goal of the event has been to bring together progressive technologists and activists to talk about cutting edge developments in media and technology from the perspective of grassroots movements for social justice - rather than from within the corporate frame so typical of most media and tech conferences. Our theme this year is Freedom and Unfreedom in the Digital Age - which will come as no surprise to any who have been casting a nervous eye at the swift expansion of the national security state in recent years. The Digital Media Conference is also being organized by Massachusetts Global Action and TecsChange - and numerous other groups are coming on board as co-sponsors.
Folks that are interested to attend should keep an eye on the conference website at http://www.digitalmediaconference.org. Registration will be active within a couple of weeks, so check back then. But if you'd like to propose a conference workshop, volunteer to work the weekend of, or sign your organization up as a co-sponsor, you can do so on the website right now.
More details as we get closer to the conference dates.
