Communist historian Doug Enaa Greene, author of the upcoming book on Specters of Communism: Blanqui and Marx, spoke on Irish socialist James Connolly as part of the ongoing Red History Lecture Series at the Center for Marxist Education in Cambridge MA on August 2, 2014.
Connolly (1868-1916) was an Irish Revolutionary Republican and Socialist who was a labor organizer in Scotland, the USA and Ireland who linked the struggle for national liberation in Ireland to the struggle for socialism. Connolly was one of the key organizers of the failed 1916 Easter Uprising that sought to free Ireland from British Imperialism.
