8 Ways You Can Help Open Media Boston This Holiday Season
In addition to donating to Open Media Boston (which we certainly encourage everyone to do), there are lots of other ways to help us keep progressive news, views, tech and arts coverage coming your way week-to-week. Here are the top 8 ...
1) Become an OMB Field Reporter. More than anything else, we need more people with basic journalism skills willing to go out on a regular basis and cover events. The more reporters we have, the more your humble Editor/Publisher can spend time raising money to make this venture a long-term success.
2) Tell us about funding opportunities. Have a rich parent, aunt/uncle, distant relation, ex-lover or drunken acquaintance with too much disposable income on their hands? Wanna help OMB? Get us a sit-down with them, and help us make a pitch for why they should throw some of their lucre in our direction. This also applies to any unadvertised foundations, trusts or funds out there - and we know from experience that they exist. Are you connected to one? Can you help get OMB on the funding docket or at least help us get a foot in the door? Then go for it.
3) Host an OMB fundraising party (or cultural fundraising event of any kind) and invite your friends. We'll help handle the leg work to make the event a success.
4) Sell advertising for OMB. We'll let you keep a fair percentage of what you bring in and our online advertising interface will make it easy for you to do from wherever you are. Contact us for more info.
5) Donate media equipment: including digital SLR cameras, digital video cameras, digital audio recorders, mics, booms, lighting kits, etc.
6) Donate a laptop (a relatively new one of any make).
7) Post original content to the site (and keep it coming).
8) Tell all your friends, enemies, family, co-workers and pets about OMB.
Can you think of some other cool way to keep OMB moving forward? Let us know. As always, we can be reached at info@openmediaboston.org.
