Students Occupy Boston Holds March for Free Public Higher Education for All

BOSTON - Almost 100 students from several Boston area colleges held a protest march around Boston as part of a National Day of Action for Education - called by students in the Occupy movement around the United States. The local action was organized by Students Occupy Boston - a working group of the Occupy Boston movement - and its core demand reflected the main theme of the national action: free public higher education for all.

BOSTON/Government Center - Over 50 members of the Massachusetts Alliance of HUD Tenants and several allied organizations held twin demonstrations outside the offices of Sens. John Kerry and Scott Brown on Tuesday - urging them to "tax the 1 percent and cut the Pentagon as the only way to create jobs and reduce the deficit without cutting vital programs for the poor and middle class."

Harvard University Union Members Protest Proposed HU Library Layoffs

Cambridge, MA - Over 20 Harvard employees and supporters held a demonstration outside Harvard University's 90 Mt. Auburn St. facility on Wednesday against proposed "voluntary and involuntary staff reductions" at the Harvard University Library- while a meeting on restructuring the labor force at the library was being led by HU Library Executive Director Helen Shenton inside.

Former Salvadoran Military Official Implicated in Jesuit Murders Granted Continuance in Immigration Fraud Case

BOSTON/South Boston - An Everett man implicated in the 1989 assassination of six Jesuit priests and two civilians in El Salvador abandoned his guilty plea on two unrelated immigration charges in federal district court Monday. The presiding judge agreed to continue proceedings on January 11th after it became clear the defendant did not understand the consequences of his plea.

The following is a transcript of the Open Media Boston audio recording of a 6 a.m. press conference called by the Boston Police Department on December 10, 2011 on the corner of Atlantic Ave. and Congress St. to discuss their destruction of the Occupy Boston encampment at Dewey Square on orders from Mayor Thomas Menino. Boston Police Department Superintendent William Evans spoke on behalf of Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis - who did not attend.

BOSTON/Dewey Square - The Occupy Boston encampment in Dewey Square was completely destroyed starting at 4:58 a.m. this morning in a major operation by the Boston Police Department - working together the Boston Parks Department, other city agencies, and representatives of the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy.

Cambridge, Mass. - Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Chris Hedges addressed a rally of 75 Occupy Harvard protestors and supporters on Monday near the Science Center at Harvard University - just outside Harvard Yard, which has been locked down to the public and press since the Occupy Harvard movement was launched on November 9th.

BOSTON - Members of the Occupy Boston group came out in force on Tuesday to march in protest to New York police clearing their sister camp at Wall Street. A banner carried by leaders of some 200 marchers read: "11/15 at 2 a.m. without notice, NYPD raided OWS!"
