Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand

BOSTON/South Boston - Unless you’ve arrived only recently from another planet, you know that Shepard Fairey’s first museum exhibition, a 20-year survey of his images, is on view at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. Fairey is the world’s most famous street artist, best known for his iconic red, white and blue “PROGRESS,” “CHANGE,” and “HOPE,” posters of Barack Obama. He made headlines in Boston over the weekend when he was arrested.

From July 28 - August 3, 2008, the Roxbury Film Festival celebrates its tenth year with features and short films celebrating local, national, and international filmakers and artists of color.

Actors Robert Townsend and Ruby Dee will make public appearances at the beginning and end of the festival.

Also there will be public discussions about issues impacting inner city residents and production workshops for youth participants.

Emergenza Live Festival Highlights Up and Coming Bands

BOSTON/Allston – With over 50,000 bands booked for 8,000 shows on two continents in this year’s competition, the Emergenza European and North American Live Festival for Up and Coming Bands is now making an appearance in the Boston area. The 9 area bands that made it through the first two rounds competed in the semifinal round Tuesday night at the Paradise Rock Club.
