Brockton Traffic Stop Leads to Allegations of Assault by Local PD

Brockton, Mass. - A Brockton man is suing that city and several members of its police department after he was allegedly assaulted and wrongfully arrested during a traffic stop in 2012.

Ben Silveus filed the lawsuit in federal court in Boston at the end of March against Sgt. Mark Celia, and Officers William Schlieman and Eric Burke, for what he claims were violations of his rights under both state and federal statutes.

Brockton Cops Illegally Entered Cape Verdean Family’s Home, Used Excessive Force in Arrests, US Court Finds

Brockton, Mass. - A judge has ruled that members of the Brockton Police Department illegally entered the home of a Cape Verdean family in 2008, and used excessive force while arresting family members.

Officers Thomas Hyland and Brian Donahue were found liable of illegally entering the Barbosa family home on November 15, 2008, following a noise complaint to police.

Officers Hyland, Jesse Drane, Steven Johnson, and Frank Baez were also found liable of using excessive force while arresting members of the family.

Bullied for Being Jewish Parents Sue School for Alleged Inaction

Carver, Mass. - Parents of a 13 year old boy have filed a lawsuit against a school department and senior staff, following years of alleged religious harassment and bullying at a school.
 
The Carver School Department and the school officials are being sued for allegedly failing to take action during the two years Z. G. was being abused because he is Jewish.
