Waltham, Mass. – A former employee at Demos Restaurant in Waltham is suing his ex-employer alleging that he was not paid earned overtime owed to him.
Adjunct Action, Northeastern University – Fenway
Adjunct faculty at Northeastern University last week voted in favor of forming a union as part of the Adjunct Action campaign of the SEIU. The adjuncts have formed the largest part-time faculty union in Boston, and along with 2,000 adjuncts at Tufts University and Lesley University, they are now united as part of the metro organizing strategy.
BOSTON – Fast food workers and their supporters in the Fight for $15 and a Union campaign hit out at Burger King and other minimum-wage employers in a demonstration on Tremont St. in Boston on Thursday.
Over 400 protestors were critical of fast food jobs paying far below the city’s living wage, and are demanding a $15 per hour minimum wage across the Bay State, and the right to a form a union without retaliation from employers.

BOSTON/Roxbury – A Roxbury man is suing the Benjamin Healthcare Center (BHC) alleging that his former employer failed to pay him earned overtime and vacation pay.
Somerville, Mass. – A former auto-service advisor at Herb Chambers car repair in Somerville is suing the company alleging that he was wrongly categorized as an exempt employee and consequently not compensated overtime pay owed to him.
Scott O’Brien, a former Massachusetts resident now living in Pennsylvania filed the class-action lawsuit in federal court in Boston against the company after working at its Somerville dealership for an unspecified length of time.
Students for a Just and Stable Future and 350 Massachusetts – State House
Chelsea, Mass. - Highlighting ongoing immigration and labor issues, including the need for a path to citizenship and a higher minimum wage, Boston area activists celebrated International Workers' Day - better known as May Day - on Thursday.
Around 800 people took part in the event in the heart of Boston’s surrounding immigrant communities - with marches from East Boston, Everett and Revere to a rally at Chelsea City Hall.
BOSTON/State House - The annual Workers Memorial Day, in commemoration of employees who have died on the job in Massachusetts over the last year, was held on the steps of the State House on Monday.
