Recent Mac Buyers May Be Elligble for Discount
Following its recent refresh of its MacBook line of notebooks, Apple is reportedly offering discounts of up to $450 to customers who purchased a previous model notebook within fourteen days of the refresh.
Some customers have reported Apple's phone customer support agents are offering customers the chance to return notebooks recently purchased from the Apple Store online in exchange for new models if they have not yet opened the packaging. Alternately, agents may offer a discount if the customer wishes to keep the previous generation model.
Those who purchased a notebook at an Apple retail store within fourteen days have the option to return the notebook for a $100 restocking fee and purchase one of the updated MacBook Pros.
Open Media Boston recommends anyone who has recently purchased a Mac should explore their options and be persistent with support agents. With a FireWire port, SD card, faster processors, more RAM and more vibrant screen, the updated MacBook Pros are worth a little customer support hassle.

I got caught in this loop having just ordered my very first Macbook Pro...within a few days the upgraded notebooks were released. I fretted over the big expense and lost opportunity. No worries. Got great customer service and FedExed my unopened notebook back. New one was put on the old order number so there'd be no probs with the rebate for the iTouch I qualified for.
